The Lavender Press publishes news and analysis from the Lavender Guard, a grass-roots and volunteer-based collective of Marxists organized across the USA fighting for the defense and liberation of the trans and queer communities. We believe that the fights against patriarchy, white supremacy, imperialism, and chauvinism of all forms are unified in the fight against capitalism; in this sense, the fight for trans liberation as we understand it must first be the fight for worker’s liberation. Our mission is to convey this perspective by putting the struggle for trans liberation into the context of the class struggle, both for the benefit of trans people looking to understand their situation better, and for our cis (non-trans) comrades to better understand our mutual interests.
The bourgeois press, having a financial incentive to insight outrage and to sow division, is quick to antagonize our would-be comrades through fearmongering and deception. They misrepresent us even when they presume to be our allies or to be sympathetic to our cause; whether FOX or CNN, both ends of the bourgeois political spectrum can do (or will do) nothing but exacerbate benign contradictions among the masses into antagonistic contradictions. Thus, we provide a voice to working class transsexuals to represent themselves and to expose the lies of the mainstream media.
